Initial Impressions: Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! / 中二病でも恋がしたい!

Yo readers,

And today, another Autumn 2012 anime, Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! / 中二病でも恋がしたい!

So it all begins in a normal school-type setting, with not-so-normal characters. Our main protagonist this time goes by the name of Yuuta Togashi. Having just graduated from Middle-School a while back, Togashi is now ready to enter High-School, but entering with a new leaf in mindset.

Why? Well because he used to be the "DARK FLAME MASTER!!!"

Yes, the story revolves around the idea of what we perceive as "childish". Yes, we've all been there. Remember a time when you would role-play as an idol or person of science fiction, even though you were over the age-limit where it was "acceptable by society"? Well that's what chuunibyou is in a nutshell.

"It refers to a frightening, yet charming "disease", that people are likely to catch during puberty. With developing self-consiousness and their childish imaginations still intact, they adopt strange mannerisms."

Yuuta Togashi vs Houtarou Oreki

Yes, our main character Yuuta Togashi was a victim of Chuunibyou, and acted as "Dark Flame Master" in his middle school, a character wearing a black cape and wielding a big sword, acting mighty and stranger. (Weird and *cuckoo* in society's standards)

Rikka Takanashi

Finally able to make normal friends in his new class, he finally is able to shake off his past. But, something is in his way. It's Rikka Takanashi! AND SHE'S KAWAII!!!! (Editor's Note: Oh here he goes again... Lolicon!)

Rikka claims that she has a hidden power under her right eye. (Like Misaki Mei), and when she unveils it, its... ITS...

A fake contact. MEH.

So basically, Rikka is also a victim of Chuunibyou, but in her case, its much worse, to the extent she can flip out of apartment blocks, do somersaults and stuff. Of course, sometimes her imagination is able to be seen on screen, which are sometimes pretty cool, even though its make-believe.

So I have nothing more to add. There is no plot yet from what I can see, but much of the action and situations are make-believe (but real to the people with chuunibyou... mainly Rikka). There's definitely going to be a theme with these sort of animes, and I can't wait for it!

I also found the ED "Inside Identity" for Chuunibyou to be awesome! Are all the EDs this season nice?

It looks like a comedy / romance? / friendship sort of development coming along, and it should be enjoyable all round!

Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! is another Autumn 2012 Anime, currently at episode 2. It is currently being fansubbed by gg, URW (UTW + Rori) and Hadena, and is available on Crunchyroll on demand. It will have 12 episodes!
