Epic Anime Review: Detective Conan Part 1

October 26, 2011
Posted by DarrenW

Oh My Gosh, 260 Episodes Done, but less than halfway through.

Firstly, because I'm scared of being sued, I like to acknowledge personally, that I do not own any of the images shown in this review, and that the credit for such images wholeheartedly goes to the producers involved in this animation.

That said, here is my review on Detective Conan! Part 1...

As many have watched this famous anime, it first begins in Beika City, a part of Tokyo! All attention focuses on Kudo Shinichi, who has recently gained fame from solving criminal cases.

The anime first begins with Kudo Shinichi's life, which revolves around solving cases with Chief Inspector Juzo Megure, and his childhood friend Mouri Ran, (Of which they are like a couple). Shinichi has an ultimate passion for detective novels such as those from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and Edogawa Rampo, and lives with his famous parents, Yukiko Kudo the actress, and Kudo Yusaku, an established mystery writer. Looks like a peaceful setting!

Kudo Shinichi
But of course, that's obviously not going to happen1 XD The problem first begins when Shinichi and Ran go to an amusement park to have some fun. After solving a murder case, Shinichi sneaks behind and discovers an illegal dealing with men in black. But then, WHAM! Shinichi is caught off guard and knocked unconscious. The men in black then force a poisonous pill down Shinichi's throat, in an attempt to kill him.

Edogawa Conan
His body burns, and burns!

Then, he wakes up, as a SEVEN YEAR OLD KID! He quickly runs to his neighbour, Professor Agasa, in order to get some help! However, the professor decides that he should keep it a secret, otherwise his friends will be in trouble. But then, Ran arrives, and finds him! What will he do?

Mouri Ran
Easy, pop on some spectacles, and call yourself Edogawa Conan! Further on in the anime, he lives with Mouri Ran and his obnoxious father, Mouri Kogorou, who is, technically speaking, a retired policeman and currently, a failure as a detective, and lives to smoke cigarettes, drink alcohol, and watch pop idols on television. So what does Conan do? Well, help the old man of course.

Mouri Kogorou
So, with the help of inventions from the professor, he can stun the old detective at his will, and mimic his voice to give deductions on murder cases.

Basically, his role is to help Kogorou become famous as a detective so that he is able to find out more about the black men who turned him into a boy. Well, as the anime progresses, things actually, don't go very far, and he still remains a boy. But a chinese alcohol called Parapika is able to turn him momentarily, into a man again!

Professor Agasa
Conan goes on trips with Mouri Kogorou and Mouri Ran, OR with Conan's new elementary school classmates, as they discover murder cases all around, and solve them with Conan's reasoning.

Well, if you watch conan up to episodes 140s or so, you will meet Conan's new partner, Haibara Ai, or, in the organisation, known as "Sherry" of which she betrayed the organisation when her sister was murdered, and she herself took the pill. She lives a life of hatred and regret in the anime, and has a mysterious character. Personally, I prefer her with Conan. Hahahaha....

Hattori Heiji
Of course, there are new characters of the black organisation approaching. Along with Gin and Vodka, Jodie Santamilon (I think...) and 2 other new characters in episode 259.

To cut things short, I will explain the situation.
People who know Conan as Shinichi: His parents, Hattori Heiji, Haibara Ai, Professor Agasa.
Other characters include:
Members of the police force, Megure, Takagi, Sato,Yumi, Shiratori, Chiba, Yomokizo and Masao
The Detective Boys, Ayumi, Genta, Mitsuhiko and Haibara
and Kisaki Eri, Sonoko Suzuki and Kazuha Toyama

Haibara Ai
Of course, there is also a love triangle in this anime, of which, is very screwed up and I'm at a lost of how to explain.

However, there is some criticism. Conan is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to draggy. Don't expect plot developments until every 30 or so episodes. Most episode will be disjointed from the plot, so its just a murder case.

Still, Conan is nice when you have no other animes to watch, because you can keep on going and it will never end. Secondly, the plot is not so intense, so for easy watching, its quite pleasant. And thirdly, when you are sick of ECCHI, haha.

All Main Characters
Detective Conan premiered in January 8, 1996, and has one episode every week, up to the day. Currently, it is currently premiering its 20th Season, with 634 Episodes, 11 OVAs and 5 Magic File Specials. It also has 15 spectacular movies, a Live-Action Series and, J-Drama? I will not talk about Fansubs because the producers of this anime don't like that.

And I can't put a promo video because the user who uploaded it would most probably get banned.

Hint for next review: Alice-Sama?

Final Impressions: Mayo Chiki

October 25, 2011
Posted by DarrenW

Yoz!

For those wondering how long this video will be up there, just a bit sooner! :D

For those who like this anime, enjoy! For those who don't, too bad!

Anyways, I'll be doing the final impressions as requested, for "Mayo Chiki!"

Just ending a few weeks ago with a slightly blunt ending, I will just explain some basics

Just for your information this IS an ECCHI anime of the season. Those who don't like ECCHI go to the next post, haha.

So the setting is about the same as every other ECCHI school-based anime. A normal student by the name of Sakamachi Kinjirou, goes to high school along with his classmates. However, he has an abnormal condition. He can't touch girls. If he does, he will bleed his nose off! Having a pro-wrestler for a mum and a sister following in her footsteps, Jirou's condition was aparrently caused by them using him as a sandbag.

I just realised the main character has almost the same name as Hidan no Aria's Kinji Toyama.

Anyway, some of you might be wondering, WHY MAYO CHIKI? Well, if you take a good look at the main charcter's name, its spelt SakamaCHI KInjirou. Hahahahaha.

OMG I think I will be having a
nosebleed too.
So I've better get to the plot. In Jirou's school though, things aren't that normal. There is an Ojou-Sama (High-Class Girl), Kanade Suzutsuki, whom always brings her butler, Subaru Konoe, along with her. So, Jirou's life probably ends about now, when he discovers Konoe wearing girl panties when he opens the toilet cubicle. MAN DOESN'T ANYBODY KNOCK ANYMORE?

He is later assaulted by Konoe and with the outrageous turn of events, discovers that the butler is actually a girl! The light hearted Suzutsuki suddenly turns sadistic and... it suddenly becomes some bondage scene...

Plot-wise, this anime has... actually, not much of a plot line, as expected. Rather, each episode has its own intriguing plot. Honestly, I have no doubt in my mind that its pure random shit.

The theme is very touching as Konoe-San starts to learn about true life with Jirou-Kun, whom is also her first and best friend. For now, the theme of the anime is with the discovery of a life that Konoe-San never knew existed. Kinjirou also gets in touch with Masamune Usami, Nakuru Narumi, and forms closer bonds with his sister, Kureha Sakamachi.

OMG I LUV USAMI!
Though, there are really too many "coincidences" happening in the anime, which is quite annoying, but of course, natural for an ECCHI. XD For the pervs, definitely for you. For people who like cuteness, maybe, but just a note that every, and I mean EVERY episode has some exposing, or "fan service" as they call it.

Scariest  Ojou-Sama ever encountered
And just a side note, this anime has the ECCHI level way high up there, i would say on the same level as Infinite Stratos. But still, pretty unusual to have a girl butler in a school set-up. OH YES, Hayate no Gotoku! But that is the complete opposite. This anime is gonna be interesting.

What Did She DO?
And did Kinjirou heal his phobia from GAP MOE at the end?! WTH?

Mayo Chiki has 12 episodes in total, and premiered on July the 2nd. It is fansubbed by AyakoChihiroDokiInterrobang, and WhyNot, just like i asked myself, why not i try watching this?

I bet you pervs somewhere out there are giving that look.

Finally...

Dear Readers,

It's me. I know its been a long while, but while MedusaS was writing her review yesterday, I FINALLY FINISHED the promo video.

In all honesty it wasn't easy to make it, you know, finding all the resources to work on, but the main point is I can write reviews now.

Sorry about the long massive delay. I will start posting with the Mayo Chiki! Final Impressions later today. :D

From here on end, all our schedules will slacken and we'll be able to post more freely. Just for the notice, we only have 3 authors. If you want to help us reach out by writing reviews, WE DON'T MIND. Join Us!

Thanks for supporting us by visiting our website. Even though we didn't post much this month, the viewcount managed to stay at 1500 hits.
Oh yeah, and watch the video! XD

Past Anime Review: CLANNAD Season 1

October 22, 2011
Posted by MedusaS

ZOMG, THAT TOOK FOREVER!

But here it is! The CLANNAD review!

I have to say, for one of my favorite romance animes, the plot is quite forgettable. So please pardon me if I get anything wrong!

The story begins with Tomoya Okazaki, as he begins a new term on his last year of school. Okazaki is labelled as a delinquent, due to his family background.

Suddenly, walking past a field of cherry blossoms, he bumps into a soft-spoken girl of the name of Nagisa Furukawa. She is a repeat student, who had to repeat due to a sickness she had. She has a dream: to restart the empty drama club!

Okazaki Tomoya
So the delinquent joins in and helps her, not knowing the life changing experience he will have from doing so.

While reforming the drama club, They are helped by Tomoya's best friend and ULTIMATE LOSER, Sunohara Youhei! (He is also labelled as a delinquent). Two girls, Kotomi Ichinose and Fuko Ibuki, also join the club. Tomoya also meets Nagisa's parents, who are... an interesting bunch. Other girls such as the Fujibayashi sisters and Sakagami Tomoyo also appear here and there.

Sunohara Youhei
Well, the theme of the anime is of helping one another, of which Fuko's story begins first. She was actually a victim of an accident, of which she is bedridden in a hospital. But HOW IS SHE moving and walking like nothing happened? Well, mystic forces are at work...

Ibuki Fuko
With Fuko's sister getting engaged, things start to turn for the worst. Fuko's presence starts to vanish as people just forget who she is. Well, to keep it short, it had a moving but sad ending! T_T

Nagisa Furukawa
Things go well with Kotomi, though she can't play the violin for NUTS. However, her story changes as a strange man who knows Kotomi suddenly gives her the scare, and she retreats to her home. Surprisingly, she lives in an abandoned like house. All of which gives Tomoya the dejavu, of which he is reminded of a horrible memory of the past, the death of a family. Nagisa, Tomoya and the Fujibayashis attempt to help her move on and forget the past.

And finally, the last development, the stories of Tomoya and Nagisa emerge, all of which are also sad stories to hear of their past. Tomoya's inability to play his favourite sport, and the loss of Nagisa's parents' dreams.

However, the anime's climax all comes down to the final play of the drama club. Would it be a success, or would it end up in failure? WATCH TO FIND OUT. Hehheh.

Kotomi Ichinose
Ryou Fujibayashi
Plot-wise, it is well crafted, and I have no issues with that. Even after watching it again, it was SO HEARTWARMING THAT I CRIED

Well, if you are wondering what is the theme, it is that of clanship, (Oh thats where the title is derived from) and family.

Kyou Fujibayashi
However, this anime is quite depressing, but eventually they all end up in happy endings (except for the fuko one). Another thing is that its slightly boring, (its like watching a drama without action).

Now let me take a deep breath. CLANNAD premiered with 22 awesome episodes, with an extra and OVA. After Season 1, it had Season 2, with 22 EPISODES, 2 extras, and ANOTHER OVA. After which, there was also a CLANNAD film. You can also find CLANNAD in manga, in the PC Visual novel, OR the traditional Light Novel. Wow.

Furukawa Family
CLANNAD S1 was subbed by Aquastar-Anime, Doki, Static-Subs, Coalgirls, and a.f.k.

Enjoy your CLANNAD!! ^_^

PS: OH, AND CHECK OUT THAT COOL VIDEO UP THERE. DarrenW spent 2 whole weeks on that stuff and I can't get enough of it!

Initial Impressions: Beelzebub

This review has been updated. For final impressions "Beelzebub", click here.

Min'na!!!
I AM BACK!!! (Like officially:D) *Bows*

Gomenasai!! But I was celebrating the end of exams (for now) so I didn’t start work until today :D
Sorry people… But I will be doing initial anime reviews for the next few posts because there are so many animes that came out and looked good. Remind me why I hate watching ongoing animes? Oh yah, because I ABSOLUTELY HATE CLIFFHANGERS!!!

Anyways I’m in a super good mood now, not just because of the end of exams but because there are so many new K-POP songs being released!!! K-POP CRAZY FANGIRL~! :D So I won’t let cliffhangers irritate me…YET:D

As such… I’ll be going back on my word to do the red liquid review…. GONE~! Maybe next time neh~?
So… Let’s start with ANOTHER fighting anime: Beelzebub.

Shocked white guy in the corner: Takayuki Furichi, my fav :D
Front: Baby Beel and Oga (Holding Rattler)
Back (Left To Right): Hilda, Alaindelon, Hajime Kanzaki,
Hidetora Toujou, Aoi Kunieda and Tatsuya Himekawa
What would you do if you found out that you had to take care of a baby, which is not yours, but your parents think otherwise? Tatsumi Oga’s life turned upside down when a baby clung to him. This baby is none other than Kaiser de Emperana Beelzebub IV (AKA Baby Beel), the youngest son of the current demon king. In other words, the baby is a demon baby. Along with him came woman named Hildegarde (Hilda), who is a maid responsible of taking care of Baby Beel, and a dimensional transport demon named Batim do Emuna Alaindelon. Due to the fact that the baby needs a human parent to take care of him (a human who is strong, arrogant, and thinks nothing for the fellow man, and Oga fits the description perfectly), Baby Beel thus sticks to him and Oga is forced to take care of him. Oga can’t go away from the baby more than 15 meters or he will experience a high voltage shock that would kill him. (The baby shoots lightning out of its body if it cries or throws tantrums….OUCH) And the story continues as Oga tries to get rid of the baby and things happening around him:D

Genre: Fighting, Shounen, School-life, Romance (a bit)

Plot: Nostalgic. Very familiar storyline. In fact, I am very sure some parts are taken from other animes… I clearly see the shadow of "Kaichou wa Maid~Sama" in one episode and some other random animes that I watched but forgot the names in other episodes. The storyline that the human has to take care of a non-human baby is like the new anime: Chibi Devi! (Or the new anime is like it) And the fact that it takes place in a delinquent school is like the Taiwan drama KO ONE or like the manga Dear School Gang Leader. But it is quite nice, and funny and it teaches some lessons to watchers.  So I wouldn’t discourage people from watching it. However, if you are the type who hates illogical stuff and plot similarities, then don’t watch this :P

'Father' and 'Son

For some freaky reasons, Baby Beel never ever wears diapers in this anime, despite the mention of diapers. It really annoys me because Baby Beel reminds me of my annoying little brother who loves running around the house naked! >:( And my brother’s crying has about as much effect as Baby Beel’s crying……

Oh yah! And Naby Beel has the pacifier like 24/7… Another thing I can’t stand is the fact that the artist has to draw the chest of the females so BIG… But this reason is less unnerving than the previous one…

Genre: Fighting, Shounen, School-life, Romance (a bit)

Anyways, this anime came out in Jan 9 2011, a spring anime. I didn’t know its presence until like… yesterday and I rushed finish to write this review (but I didn’t skip episodes or parts XD nearly killed me to finish everything in 24 hours)…
It has currently 37 episodes. My favourite opening is the 4th one by MBLAQ called Baby U :D K-POP BAND~! But they sing in JAPANESE. Fave ending is 4th ending: Papepipu Papipepu Papepipupo by Nozomi Sasaki, the animation is super KAWAIII~! <3
ENJOY!

I shall rest now after the anime marathon…

Anyeong (Bye… In Korean :D) *Bows and exits*
