Final Impressions: Papa no Iukoto o Kikinasai!

June 30, 2012
Posted by MedusaS

Haha, I guess you all were wondering where this review went.

"Papa no Iukoto o Kikinasai!"(Listen to your father!)

Well well, what do we have here, an unusual family-orientated anime from the producers of feel. Yes, very odd, because that company is very known for... ahem. 'Decent' animes. (Yosuga no Sora, KissxSis Mayo Chiki...)

But forget I said all that, let's carry on!

University life (Lol I'm also in university, hope this doesn't happen to me.) for Yuuta Segawa starts off with a romantic start as he enrolls in the School of Literature at Tama University. She gets attracted to his senior Oda Raika, of whom she and Yuuta's best friend Kouichi Nimura are members of the street observation research society. (Wtf? Who ever though of such an external activity?)

Oda Raika
Anyway, life proceeds as per normal for Yuuta, until the day when his newly-wed sister, Yuri Takanashi, decides to leave Japan to celebrate her honeymoon with her new husband, Shingo Takanashi. She then leaves her three girls in the care of Yuuta while they are away. Weirdly, all three girls have come from different families before.

And who are these three girls?

Well, firstly, we have Sora Takansahi, who is the eldest of the three at 14, and is TSUNDERE. Yes, though she is tsundere, but she has a crush on Yuuta, (though he is her uncle) and often gets mixed up in super random & sudden lucky (SRSLY?) ecchi scenes. (WOAH at the end of episode 1) Her mother passed away when she was very small.

Secondly, we have Miu Takanashi, of whom is 10 years of age, but acts extremely mature (at most times). She has a spontaneous personality and has blonder hair inherited from her russian mother, of whom divorced Shingo.

Thirdly, we have the youngest and cutest Hina Takanashi! The daughter of Yuri, she is only 3 years old, and acts all innocent! She is very friendly to anyone she meets, and most of the time, mispronounces words.

They spend one day with Takanashi at their house, and have a very enjoyable time together. Smelled something fishy by now? Why spend a short time with these children if the whole anime is about these 4?

Well, the plot starts developing when Yuri and Shingo's flight, uneventfully, crashes, and the two are nowhere to be found (DEAD). A funeral is held of which the three girl's families all want to take back the children, separating them. Yuuta, who has lived through that phase in his own lives before, was outraged, and decided to take these these three girls under his care.

Running away with the 3 girls, he escapes to his university apartment, and finds that he now faces the reality of being a father.

As the anime progresses, Yuuta discovers a lot of things about raising kids, firstly, its EXPENSIVE, getting them to love you needs a lot of effort, and that just being there for them is enough.

The secondary characters in this anime, the members of the street observation society, are pretty much the best friends you can have at life, helping Yuuta out at the most difficult times, and so are the members of the community.

At the very end, it was trying to get the girls to be willing to accept Yuuta as their father. A very nice ending indeed.

The sad part is that Shingo and Yuri definitely passed away.

This anime is VERY similar to Usagi Drop, the main theme of raising children and learning from scratch as a guardian. i find these animes very heartwarming, as well as having a good educational standpoint (For us who don't know much about parenting)

There really isn't a plot in this anime, but who needs one here? the only main plot discussed, the parents disappearing and Yuuta raising kids, is enough.

Heartwarming indeed, the theme is VERY well displayed, featuring the ups and downs of taking car of children and being a family. Other themes also attributed are also that communities are also family, and that a family need not be blood related.

ROFL
Atmosphere-wise, it is unfortunately ECCHI. Unlike Usagi Drop, it has a ton of ecchi scenes which I can't describe (SRSLY?). That's the only sad thing though. Besides that I guess its a decent anime.

Ecchi aside, this anime is really awesome. It has a lot of themes going on and though I've seen it before, was very interesting in a lot of ways. Recommended!

Papa no Iukoto o Kikinasai! premiered on January 11, 2012 and ended on March 27, 2012 with 26 EPISODES 12 episodes with a special. It was fansubbed by rori, Doki, Pettanko, Shin-S, Hatsuyuki, Oyatsu, and is available on Simulcast on Crunchyroll.

Hint: Another late review.

Past Anime Review: Uta No Prince-Sama: Maji Love 1000%

June 19, 2012
Posted by IAmBored

HI PEOPLE!!!!

Ok. It has been like two months since I last did anything here in this blog. OMG. :P Yeah, but I was like having exams and after that I was too unmotivated to write again. XD (Also the fact that there really aren't that many animes that suit my genre that came out) I officially stopped watching ongoing animes because I can't stand the suspense and cliffhangers. So I'm waiting till the end of this month and watch all the episodes I missed. :D

Recently, I've been obsessed with music♪ for no apparent reason. From classical to pop, with the exception of heavy metal, so it makes sense if the animes I watch are related them :D

Yeah, so this anime is pretty recent. (July 13 2011) I had no idea it existed until Youtube related videos helped me. THANK YOU YOUTUBE!!! By far it's the anime with the most amazing singing I have ever seen (or heard). If I had known it existed I would have done an initial anime review, but oh well.

Uta no Prince-sama: Maji Love 1000% (うたの☆プリンスさまっ♪ マジLOVE1000%) AKA Uta no Prince-sama :D Let's go!!!

So the main story is about this girl called Haruka Nanami as the female protagonist. She is very sickly as a child and had to move to the country side with her grandmother as a result. So her grandmother taught her how to play the piano (but she does't know how to read the notes). Haruka enrolls into the Saotome Academy, an arts school. This school is famous for its students and teachers as the students are potential famous people and the teachers are well-known. If she successfully passes the school year, she can debut in an agency called "Shining Agency". But she isn't interested in singing, but rather, composing. Hence this anime is about the period of time from her entrance to school to her debut.

Clockwise from L: Hijirikawa,
Junguuji, Tokiya, Natsuki, Syo,
Otaya (Middle)
Then of course there are male protagonists. In fact, there are like more than 5 so I have no idea which one is really the main. They are all sooooo KAWAII :3 and handsome of course. Their singing is awesome. :D Otoya Ittoki, Masato Hijirikawa (say his name 10 times fast... or maybe it is just me who stumbles over his name... ;D), Natsuki Shinomiya, Tokiya Ichinose, Ren Jinguuji (his name is awesome :D) and Syo Kurusu (in some subs is Shou Kurusu) These are the 6 "main" protagonists.YAY!!! Kekeke. If anyone knows any male dominated animes (more male than female characters AKA male harem AKA reverse harem) please tell me. I love this genre. :D Officially my fave character is Hijirikawa. But I also like Syo, Otoya and Tokiya, don't make me choose!!! I love Hijirikawa's hair and the outfit he wears for the concert:DD Doki doki~~ Yup.

So this anime is mainly about the girl and the guys knowing each other and working together. It would take me forever to explain the guys as they each has a own story and it would be major spoilers if I reveal them. :D

So... impressions: AWESOME ANIME!!! (For me:D) This isn't exactly a romance anime, but there are like hints? somewhere along the story. But there isn't an obvious I-chase-you-so-please-date-me kind of story line. I think some guys like the girl and vice versa. But there isn't much hints to know for sure who really likes who. So I wouldn't consider this a romance anime. But it is definitely a school and music related anime. :D Yeah and the OSTs are awesome. Seriously people, ♪check it out♪. And I would consider this a musical. Because there is a song in almost every episode. There is a particular story line about a cat (not to give too much information) but I really don't understand the reason why the cat is there in the first place. Seems a little out, but I wouldn't exactly remove it. I just find it a little weird.

Another random one
The famous uniform I'm obsessed with
Back to the main point. This anime has 13 episodes. It is really a nice anime to watch and has awesome colours and the drawing is really good. :D The OST is also very good. There are a lot of different songs, and the genre is pop music. But there are a few songs that are soothing. What I really like are the lyrics. They are all very meaningful, so do remember to read them when the songs pop up! And if you like a rather normal-paced anime with lots of music and handsome guys, this anime is for you. And there are random chibis suddenly popping that make it quite funny. To be exact, it would make you smile and go AWWW.... but not exactly a ROFL kind of anime. This anime is adapted from a game with the same name. Apparently the game has more information about the characters but I am too lazy to go play it. (I doubt I can even find it judging on where I live) Oh and there is a season 2 coming out!!! Once it comes out I'll do a initial review! Matte Kure!!!

Ahhh~! My highest score yet!!! :D Maybe I'm becoming more biased!!! (O_O)

Bye!

Hint for next review: Music + past anime + male harem. :D

What? No Review for 10 days?

Yo.

In case you all don't know who I am, I'm FayeA, and I am the one who edits all of the reviews, (along with Tr3xus) that you see before you.

Before you go on an all-out rage on us, I would like to actually say that the reason why there hasn't been a post in 10 days, is primarily because DarrenW is out of action.

Yes, his laptop is basically screwed... by himself.

He was trying to upgrade the internal memory of his Macbook, but aparrently he damaged the RAM whilst he was at it...

That's too bad.

So he'll be getting a replacement laptop, and will be back with us next week. :D

Whilst he does that, I'm actually editing a review sent by IAmBored, so please hold on!

Past Anime Review: Un-Go

June 7, 2012
Posted by DarrenW

To those who are probably raging for more reviews, well I do apologize. I am currently spamming as fast as I can to clear up those animes on my waiting list.

And today, I'm going to review the first anime that I've cleared off my waiting list, "Un-Go"!

This story is set in war-time Japan, when the country is recovering from terrorist attacks, and facing a politically un-safe situation, where people are grieving and recovering from the shock during the war-time stages.

Being a detective basically sucks. Collating evidence is tricky, and getting witnesses or suspects to speak the truth is even tougher than it seems. But what if? What if you have the means, to FORCE them to tell you the truth.

Yuki Shinjuuro
Inga
And that is the gist of the anime. Our main protagonist, Yuki Shinjuuro, aka the "Deafeated Detective", has just acquired the most dangerous and powerful enitity known as "Inga", a demon which has the ability to ask a question, of which whomever she asks has no choice but to answer that question truthfully. However, she only can ask the person one question.

Inga
But why "Defeated"? Well, basically his deductions are all wrong, that's why. But wrong, in whose point of view? Unfortunately for Yuki, the eyes of his rival, Kaishou Rinroku, the president of a reknowned company known as JJ-Systems. Helping the prosecutor's office of Japan, he twists Yuki's stories of the truth to become lies, of which becomes handy for benefiting the government image and so on.

Well that sucks. And so the main focus on Yuki's mind is telling the truth. The story begins with a murder case, and for every few episodes, a new case is brought to light, of which is solved by Yuki and distorted by Rinroku.

Kaishou Rie

The climax comes at the end when Yuki and Inga face their most challenging opponent, another demon, by the name of Bettenou. She has t he ability to make her master's words become reality. This becomes a great pitfall for Yuki. Will the great detective be able to solve the mystery and culprit behind the attacks and put a stop before he is caught up in the illusions given onto him?

Seigen Hayami
Koyama Izumi
Personally, Un-go is the epitome of an awesome anime. Yes, first impressions might be dull, but the idea behind what has happened to me, is quite original and has its own unique features. The main factor behind this anime is its genre, and of which I think they handled it well as a theme. Things always seem to  lean towards certain theories, but Yuki is able to discern such facts and decipher the true meaning behind the pile of information, and that I believe makes the basis for a good detective anime.

The only disappointing thing I find about the anime is that the plot and structure behind the Bettenou case was VERY complicated. You'd really have to focus if you want to get the gist of what its saying.

Many of the background information is not explained and this sometimes makes it very confusing. HOWEVER, that is why there is a special edition Episode 0 for this anime. If you want to know where Inga comes from, who actually is Yuki Shinjuuro, and the history behind everything, it'd be best that you watch the 45 minute special. It will explain EVERYTHING. However, it's also more fun if you watch from episode 1 to 11.

Kaishou Rinroku
I also commend the OP & EDs of this anime, which was basically, superb in its own way. The OP, "How to go" by "School Food Punishment," had such a nice tune I couldn't stop listening to it just after hearing it once.

The ED, "Fantasy" by "LAMA" also has an awesome sound, similar to that of "Mawaru Penguindrum"'s "DEAR FUTURE". You definitely will not be disappointed.

But the piece that gave me the most eargasms was acutally the soundtrack piece they used, called "Light". My gosh that was amazing

Just some FYI: Inga, in unactivated form, is actually a boy, and in activated form, is a woman. Well maybe demons have no gender.

Un-Go was an Autumn 2011 anime produced by BONES, which I regrettably shifted from my watching list to waiting because of too many animes I took on in the season. It was fansubbed by CCS-Hadena, Commie, and Doki, and has 11 episodes with one 45 minute-long special.

Enjoy sharing!

Will be clearing up the rest of my waiting list: Fate/Zero, Ano Hana, Last Exile, Hayate, etc. Long way to go.

Hint: Next post in tomorrow.
